FAW Johansson 1950s cobalt ashtray with controlled bubble pattern attributed to Aseda

The firm of W Johansson ("FAW Johansson" in Swedish) was, as we understand it, primarily a design shop, getting other Swedish glassmakers to make their product, which Johansson then sold. This distinctive, heavy, bubbled and ribbed crystal ashtray was a particularly beautiful and successful design. We've sold other examples in black and red. They are often signed, but this one isn't.

One of our correspondents, an expert in the work of Swedish glassmaker, Aseda, tells us this is almost certainly model number 667. It came in cobolt, green, brown, orange and red. Thanks Carola.
