Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta vase with ground and polished circles

This is an interesting variation of the Lindstrand "Dark Magic" vase, with ground and polished circles. It's one we have never seen before.  It's unsigned, but clearly the same design.  These off-centre pieces were a Kosta specialty.  Master glassblower, Bengt Heinz, who blew most of Lindstrand's pieces, worked out that the best way to create them was with a bent glassblowing pipe. 

Heinz became something of a celebrity in Sweden, with television appearances and exhibitions of glass he had blown.  This was unusual in a field in which the designers usually got all the glory.

The last photo shows this piece with a signed Lindstrand ashtray (our ref: 1747).

Condition: light scratching to the flat part of the base, a couple of scratches (longest 1cm)
