Fratelli Toso aventurine vase - stickered.
This is a mid-century Fratelli Toso Murano art glass vase with the silver and blue Toso label. It has been hand blown and the top is square pinched using glass tools although there are no remains of the tool marks. It is cased in a layer of pale blue green transparent glass. The pattern on the exterior has been formed using copper powder so it sparkles in sunlight or under artificial light. The aventurine has been placed on white (lattimo) glass and the interior is white glass.
A vase in the same colours and techniques, but in different shape is pictured in Leslie Pina's, Fratelli Toso book on page 91. Estimated value $600-800. See the 3rd picture. See also a labelled vase we're selling Vintage 1950s Fratelli Toso Starry Night vase
To display: Put it under lights. It comes into it's own at night. It also looks great with flowers - unfortunately I overexposed the photos I took of the vase filled with proteas, but I'll include it anyway as the last photo.
