Antique Art Glass Dish Purple & Vaseline 4 Leaf Clover
This is more amazing than anything you will see at Halloween. It's a combination of two types of glass which change in different types of light. We've never seen a piece with both. It's cut on the top rim, in a geode style.
Alexandrite glass - just like the gemstone alexandrite - changes the color. It appears pale blue-violet under fluorescent lighting and cranberry-pink in natural sunlight or incandescent light. My colleague, Glen (Glass_fetish) has only one piece of alexandrite in his personal collection of 400+ pieces. It's not common.
Vaseline glass has uranium oxide in it and glows green under black UV light. I would advise against eating it, but otherwise it's safe. However, it's not so safe for glassmakers working with it (assuming they could get uranium salts today) so not much vaseline glass is made these days.
Light makes glass beautiful but the camera often can't handle it. It is especially true for a piece like this. Please ignore the glare. The photos where the piece appears to be green are taken with fluorescent light and those which are pink are taking in a combination of natural light and tungsten light.

Condition: Very good. A handful of fine scratches inside and moderate wear to the base (see photo). Two 1mm x 1mm nibbles to the flat cut rim. A couple of internal bubbles as a result of manufacture.
