TAPIO WIRKKALA iittala classic 1950s-design Ovalis vase

This is an example of classic design - one for fans of Wirkkala (1915-1985), one of the great designers of last century. An Ovalis vase is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. It's hard to believe that what we now think of as a standard vase shape - tall and oval, so simple and so familiar now - wasn't in use until Wirkkala came up with this design in 1959.

Condition: very light wear to the base, a 0.5mm black mark to the outer rim, a 7mm scuff just above the edge of the base
