Signed 1960s Mona Morales-Schildt 'Ventana' perfume bottle for Kosta
Check out the video of this piece. Mona Morales Schildt (1908-1999) had an interesting and varied career involving study in Paris, Germany, England and Sweden, stints in ceramic design, and, among other things, 12 years working for a Stockholm department store in charge of all art exhibits.
In 1958 she came to Kosta as a glass designer, (the first designer employed by Vicke Lindstrand, I believe) at the age of 50. Kosta, under Lindstrand since 1950, was well on the road to overtaking Orrefors as the leading light of Swedish glassmaking.
The Ventana series was made from 1961 to 1963 and is the range for which she is most famous. Ventana pieces feature a combination of sommerso technique in rich colours, and cut windows which create interesting optical effects.
