Heavy, moulded Paul Kedelv, 1964 Sargasso bowl for Reijmyre
Kedelv is one of our favourite mid-century glass designers. Much of his work at Flygsfors between 1952 and 1956 was outstanding. After Flygsfors, he went to Reijmyre and, among other things, designed this clever and beautiful bowl in textured blue and clear. Some parts of the clear glass are slight brownish tone (see the second photo). This uses an interesting layered moulding technique which we can't unravel just by looking at the finished product.
Lesley Jackson, in 20th Century Factory Glass, says that: "in the early 1960s his work became increasingly uninhibited... Kedelv's Sargasso range (1964) was decorated externally with ribbons of molten coloured glass..."
