1960 Orrefors cut crystal vase by Ingeborg Lundin

I have written before about how the best of the cut glass from the middle of the 20th century is underrated by glass collectors. It has been overshadowed by the coloured glass that came out in that era.

One of the big issues with clear glass is that it does show water staining which is invisible on coloured vases. Sellers sometimes fail to mention any cloudiness, and it's not always obvious from photos. Photos can look clear when they are cloudy, and cloudy when they're clear. Having been burned a few times on purchases, we don't stock as many clear vases as we used to. To be safe, you need to hold the piece in your hand before you buy it, or buy from someone whose description you trust.

Pina and Vigier's book, Smoke & Ice: Scandinavian Glass 1930-2000, shows 13cm and 25cm versions of this Ingeborg Lundin design. They value the 13cm version at US$250-300 and the 25cm version at US$700-$900. We sold a 19.5cm version recently for $350 recently (see http://www.modernistglass.com/glasspieces/view/2410) which seemed like a pretty fair price.

This one, also 19cm, has no water stains but it does have some wear to the base and a few more scratches. For this reason, and because we picked it up cheaply, it's selling for $100 less which we think is another pretty fair price.

Condition: heavy wear to the base, wear to the sticker, some scuffs and scratches to both the inside and outside (longest 1.5 cm - scuff just above the base that can be seen in the last picture, a handful or so of scratches to the interior and exterior)
