Pair of signed 1960s Vicke Lindstrand Kosta off-centre vases with bubbles

Here's a stylish set in full lead crystal from Kosta, designed by Vicke Lindstrand. The vases are a variation of the off-centre design which he played with around this time - this was shown in the 1962-63 catalogue - and a large, carefully positioned bubble, in the thickest part of the crystal, to give the design balance. "Lindstrand's response to biomorphic forms and organic modernism can be seen in the Kosta production catalogues for the 1950s, which contain numerous illustrations of objects with fluid, flowing, undulating sculptural forms that seem to offer endless possibilities for further development. He and Kosta master-blower Bengt Heintze exploited the full range of technical expertise available at Kosta to produce an extensive catalogue of work that tended toward the asymmetrical in form, frequently of flattened cylindrical section with walls of varying thickness and controlled trapped air bubbles... Condition: very light wear to the base aside from a less than 0.5mm fleabite, a few light and small scratches to the exterior (longest 2mm)

Height: 12 cm
Width: 12x5 cm
Weight: 1575 g
Engraved "Kosta LH1414" and "W" to the base (the "W" was probably added by an earlier owner.)
Condition: light wear to the base, a couple of scuffs and scratches to the exterior (longest 1.2cm), a 1mm white mark inside the glass from manufacture
