1970s 2kg signed Bertil Vallien Boda sculpture on wooden base
Vintage art glass sculptures will almost always be more scarce than vases. When it's mounted on a wooden base, you know that it was considered to be something special when it was originally sold. I'd never seen this design before Pernilla managed to buy it, but we're very pleased with her purchase.
This is a quality moulded glass sculpture set on a wooden base, for Boda, from one of the world's leading glass designers and glass artists. Bertil Vallien still designs for the firm, now known as Kosta Boda, and is best known as a master of sand-moulded glass.
Vallien graduated top of his class at Konstflack, the School of Arts, Crafts, and Design in 1961. He travelled extensively in North America, then established himself at Afors in 1963. Boda became part of the Afors Group and this design was marketed under the Boda name.
