Pair of signed Kosta Sandeberg 1970s lamps
Check out the video of this one. As I've said before on this site, vintage art glass lamps are generally very good value. For some reason a lamp is generally cheaper than an art glass vase of comparable size and similar design, and of course, much cheaper than a modern art glass lamp of comparable quality.
We like to put together pairs of lamps when we can. We do this for the same reasons we put together sets of vases - they just look better and give coherence to an interior design - but also because lamps were often originally sold that way. People put them on bedside tables on either side of a bed, or at opposite ends of a sideboard.
This pair is an example of a couple of pieces we bought separately over the last few years. (Note that the fittings are different heights, one being original, the other not.)
Ove Sandeberg specialised in the design of lamps at Kosta in the 1960s and 70s. We really like his designs (see other examples). This is the first time we've been able to offer this one. I don't understand how they could mould glass to look it so much like cut glass, but I believe that this is moulded. Either way, it's clever glassmaking, with a level of detail which you are unlikely to find in new lamps today.
Please note that these have plugs and wiring for Swedish power points. While it may be possible for people in other countries to use an adaptor and avoid having to change the plugs, we would strongly recommend spending a bit extra to get them checked and wired for your country.
