We sold a green set of these in October 2006 (http://www.modernistglass.com/glasspieces/view/1855).  Our own set of these in green is arguably the most beautiful we own.  Soon - perhaps next month - we may finally succeed in getting the green set, but in the meantime, here's a stunning set in brick red in the three sizes originally set out in the 1959 Kosta catalogue (see last picture). It's taken us two years to put this set together.  These vases are apparently simple but the subtleties are carefully designed.  They are off-centre and the colour fades to one side.  They are classic modernist design which still looks fresh and new and startlingly beautiful, 50 years later.

Here's our thinking on sets: the reason we display glass in our house is to make our house look beautiful.  A clutter of pieces with no theme or coherence can in fact make a house look less beautiful.  Some people collect colours and some collect particular designs of figurine (e.g. elephants).  In general, the easiest way to get that harmony is to gather together pieces that were made to go together by the designer, as here.  We try to put together quality sets that will make your home beautiful.  That way, you don't need to spend the next two years searching the internet and auction-houses for pieces to go with the orphan you bought.

Of course, sets are not always essential and we sell single pieces too. But generally, if one is beautiful, two are more of them are more than twice as beautiful.
