Unique 1960s Kosta paperweight by Ann and Goran Warff
This one is signed 'Unik'. $270 for a unique piece from the collaboration of two of the great 20th century glass designers; this is a bargain.
We've listed and sold a number of pieces which use, like this piece, variations of their theme of windows into another world. Here, it's the inside of a rock pool or marine cave, perhaps. Most of the piece is opaque, but the cut and polished window gives you a view of the secret of the inside. The reflective cut and polished base helps illuminate the inside.

Ann Wolff and Goran Warff met when they both worked as designers at glassmakers, Pukeberg. (Goran Warff, was an engineer who turned up to work on a furnace and became a star of modern glass design.) They married and she changed two letters in her surname. From Pukeberg, they both moved to the larger firm, Kosta. Pieces signed 'Warff' like this one, were collaborations. In 1968 they were jointly awarded the Lunning Prize - the most prestigious award in Scandinavian design. However, in 1972 the marriage broke up and there were no more joint efforts like this one.
