Christer Holmgren for Holmegaard pair of signed Eskimo figurines
This is a interesting example of how lighting changes the look of clear glass. Hans has taken a series of photos of this pair - the same shot but with different lighting each time. Each picture looks good, I think, but each is different.
Swede, Christer Holmgren, designed for Holmegaard from 1957 to 1972. These pieces bear the "C" monogram which identifies his work. His wife, Austrian, Christel Holmgren-Exner, also designed for the company in the latter years. I understand they are still alive and still designing. There seems to be some sort of fate at work in their lives in respect of their names - Christer marries Christel and the Holmgrens go to work for Holmegaard. The female piece has a 7mm chip on the base (about 5/16ths of an inch). Not too big, but still, the price is reduced to compensate for this.
