1960s Stromberg facet-cut vase
Here's another Stromberg facet-cut vase, this one in clear crystal with the faint blue tinge that came from the recipe the firm used for its glass. The numbering on this one tells us that it is from the late 1950s or 1960. (The 1959/60 catalogue went up to vase model number 972.)
They were a startling new design in the 50s, angular and precise, as befitted an age which saw technology and modern design as the way of the future (as indeed it was) and are still very popular today.
As I said in a listing for a similar piece - http://www.modernistglass.com/glasspieces/view/2901 - we think the Strombergshyttan versions have advantages over other pieces. This one is reserved for a customer with a particular passion for them, but if you want one, let us know and we'll do our best for you.
