On hold - Heavy, signed "Gallax Havang" 1980 sculpture for Studio Ahus by Hanne Dreutler
'Gallax' = galaxy, 'Havang' (or 'Haväng') is the name of a village and surrounding land in Österlen, in southeast Sweden. Ahus (Åhus), where Studio Ahus is located, is nearby. Havang is famous for it's natural beauty, an inspiration for poets and artists.
Designer, Hanne Dreutler and her husband, master glassblower Arthur Zirnsack, founded Studio Ahus in Sweden in 1977. The firm is still operating today and Dreutler is still designing beautiful glass. This is a 1980 piece, a tear-drop shaped sculpture or paperweight in green and yellow and clear crystal, with a galaxy-like stream of bubbles.
Dreutler had worked at Flygsfors, Maleras, and Kosta glass factories. Her work has stood the test of time and will become more collectible as more vintage art glass lovers discover her.
